Patients With Migraines More Predisposed To To Suffer From Depression

Man with chronic headache, in particular migraine disorder, are much more predisposed to suffer from depression disorder, feel fatigued, and have a host of other strict physical symptoms, according to a medical study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical research involved 1600 women who buy seroquel online at headache clinics in nine US regions. Of the women tested, 115 reported incidental headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 767 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patients were tested with migraines.

The clinical study found patient with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Psychotic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also three times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among patient tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical research found the likelihood of major Depression increased 32-fold if the women also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms would incite or be a manifestation of major Manic Depression in women with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Manic Depression would heighten pain perception,” said medical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Atypical Depression suggests a common neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression should be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Regardless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Psychotic Depression complicates headache management and can lead to poorer sequel for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The medical trial was helped, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American man suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 15000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to making better man care through education and study. A neurologist is a health care provider with a wide knowladge of monitoring, treating and managing diseases of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and repeated sclerosis.
